What is the Purification Rundown?

The Purification Rundown is a detoxification program which enables an individual to rid himself of the harmful effects of drugs, toxins and other chemicals that lodge in the body and create a biochemical barrier to spiritual well-being.

We live in a chemical-oriented society. Virtually everyone is regularly subjected to an intake of food preservatives, pesticides, atmospheric poisons and the like. Add to this the panoply of medical and street drugs generally consumed and the gravity of the problem becomes obvious.

These drugs and toxins can put an individual into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health, but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.

In the 1970s, while working with cases that had previously used drugs, Mr. Hubbard’s research revealed that LSD stays in the system for years after ingestion, lodging in the fatty tissues of the body. Months or even years later, a person can re-experience a “trip” as LSD residues dislodge from the fatty tissue.

Subsequent research revealed that a long list of other street drugs, chemical poisons, toxic substances and medical drugs can similarly lodge in the body and cause a person to re-experience their effects.

In answer, Mr. Hubbard developed the Purification Rundown to meet a growing threat to spiritual advancement and well-being stemming from the more and more common use of drugs and biochemical substances in the current culture.

The Purification Rundown is a tightly supervised regimen of exercise, sauna and nutrition. It is conducted in a properly ordered schedule to include sufficient rest. In combination, it results in the elimination of drug residues and other toxins from the body’s fatty tissues.

The Purification Rundown and its underlying discoveries have enabled hundreds of thousands to free themselves from the harmful effects of drugs and toxins and so achieve spiritual gains.

To cite but a few cases:

Independent researchers conducted tests on a woman who had completed the Purification Rundown after exposure to industrial contaminants. Tests conducted at the outset of her program revealed high levels of mercury and lead. During the program, she secreted a black substance through the pores of her skin as chemicals were flushed from her body. Subsequent testing showed toxic levels had been dramatically reduced.

Another outcome study, conducted by a physician and a molecular biologist, monitored the rehabilitation of cocaine and Valium addicts using Mr. Hubbard’s technology. It was found the detoxification procedure released previously undetectable drug residues through urine and perspiration. That is, residual drugs were dislodged through the program and eliminated once and for all.

The deadly chemical dioxin, known as Agent Orange, was used to defoliate trees during the Vietnam War. Exposure to the chemical led to dioxin poisoning of American servicemen. Years later, no effective handling had been developed. Finally, a Florida cardiologist conducted tests on a veteran exposed to the chemical but who had completed the Purification Rundown. It was found that the patient’s level of the chemical had dropped by 29 percent immediately after the program and an astounding 97 percent eight months later. Moreover, all symptoms of dioxin poisoning had vanished.

Clinical trials among Russian victims of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster were similarly astonishing. In particular, it was found that the Purification Rundown reduced levels of radionuclides (radioactive atoms) eightfold. Among those tested were 14 children who had been directly in the path of leakage from the reactor.

Medical doctors in New York have likewise enjoyed spectacular success using L. Ron Hubbard’s detoxification method to help first responders to the 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attack recover from exposure to toxic chemicals at Ground Zero.

A secularized adaptation of Mr. Hubbard’s discoveries is delivered in Narconon drug rehabilitation centers worldwide. The Narconon program is supported by the Church and by Scientologists internationally.
